Docker Manager

Registries

Connect to private image registries and Git repositories.

Registry connections

A registry connection is a credential Docker Manager uses for private images: for deploys, image pulls, update checks and the base images of builds. Only the owner can add and change them.

  1. Open Registries and press Add Connection.
  2. Enter a Name and the Registry Host: docker.io for Docker Hub, ghcr.io for GitHub, or host:port for your own registry.
  3. Under Credential, choose Access Token (recommended) or Password, then enter the Username and the token or password.
  4. Under Use It For, choose Everywhere, One Environment or One Stack. You can also limit it to some repositories.
  5. Press Add Connection.

For your own registry without HTTPS on a trusted network, check Plain HTTP.

When several connections fit an image, the most specific one wins: a stack before an environment before everything, then an exact repository before a wider one, then the higher Priority. Test an Image shows which connection an image would use.

A connection's menu has Test Connection, Edit, Rotate Credential, Revoke and Remove.

Pull limits

Registries such as Docker Hub limit how many images you can pull. The Pull Limit column shows what the registry last reported to Docker Manager's checks for each connection, for example "187 of 200 left, per 6 hours". Anonymous Access lists the same for registries Docker Manager checked without a connection. Test Connection updates a connection's figure.

  • A connection's limit belongs to its account and covers every pull with that account. Without a connection, the registry counts per IP address: the figure is for the address Docker Manager checks from.
  • Pulls on your servers count too, but show only after the next check. Checks of an unchanged image almost never use up pulls.
  • Not Reported means the registry sends no limit (GitHub's registry doesn't). Limit Reached means it refused a check for too many requests; when the registry says when the limit resets, so does the row.
  • Once the limit has reset, the row shows how many pulls are allowed and when it reset, until the next check reports what is left.

Git credentials

The Git Credentials tab holds credentials for private Git repositories, used by builds. Only the owner can add them. Press Add Credential and enter a Name, the Host (for example github.com), the repositories it is for, a Username and an Access Token.
