Logs

Read what your containers write, live.

Open the Logs tab of a stack or a container. New lines appear as they are written.

  • Search Logs shows only the lines that match as you type, with the matches highlighted. Match Case and Use Regular Expression change how the search reads your text. Press Esc to clear it.
  • The All Levels menu picks which lines to show: Error, Warning, Info, Debug, Verbose and Other (lines without a level), and under Output the containers' Standard Output and Standard Error.
  • On a stack with several services, the All Services menu picks which services to show. Logs in a service's row menu opens the logs of just that service.
  • Both menus show how many lines each entry has. Only keeps just that one, Select All shows everything again.
  • Wrap Lines and Timestamps change how lines are shown.
  • Turn off Follow to pause new lines; turn it on again to catch up. Scrolling up also stops the view from jumping to new lines.
  • Clear View empties the view; new lines keep coming.
  • Download Shown Lines saves what you see to a file, always with timestamps.
  • Open in a New Window opens the logs in their own window.

On a phone, Filters holds the levels and services menus, Wrap Lines, Timestamps and Follow, and long lines wrap from the start.

Good to know:

  • The level comes from the line's text, in the usual formats such as level=warn, "level":"error", [info] or ERROR. Indented lines, such as the lines of a stack trace, keep the level of the line above if they have none of their own.
  • Error lines have a red edge and warnings an amber one.
  • The view starts with the last 200 lines of each container and keeps the newest 5,000.
